At HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital, we offer 24-hour outpatient laboratory services with no appointments necessary. We do, however, require a physician's order. You can access our services at our outpatient drawing area and the surgery center.

At our highly automated laboratory facility, we are committed to providing personalized care and promptly delivering your test results.

Diagnostic laboratory tests we perform

For your convenience, our laboratory drawing station is located in the Colleton Ambulatory Surgery Center, which is next to the hospital. We perform a variety of tests, including:

  • Bilirubin test — Measures the amount of bilirubin in your blood to help diagnose and treat pancreas, liver, blood, metabolic and gallbladder disorders
  • Blood urine nitrogen (BUN) test — Measures waste product levels in the blood to assess kidney and liver health
  • Calcium blood test — Measures calcium levels in the blood to diagnose possible bone abnormalities or metabolic functions, such as kidney disease, poor nutrition or vitamin D deficiency
  • Coagulation test — Evaluates your blood's ability to clot and can be used to identify and diagnose blood clotting disorders
  • Complete blood count (CBC) tests — Evaluates red and white blood cells and platelets to screen for infections and disorders, such as anemia, leukemia and malaria
  • Creatinine test — Measures how well the kidneys are functioning
  • Culture tests — Identifies and helps diagnose the cause of an infection or illness, such as urinary tract infection, pneumonia, strep throat and meningitis
  • Electrolyte panel — Screens for diabetes, dehydration, respiratory issues, metabolic acid-base balance, alcoholism and other toxic states
  • Glucose panel — Measures blood sugar levels and tests for diabetes and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Lipid panel — Measures cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) and triglycerides, which are associated with vascular disease
  • Liver panel — Evaluates liver function and diagnoses possible diseases, such as acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, pancreatitis and gallbladder conditions
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test — Measures protein hormone levels to diagnose an underactive (hypothyroid) or overactive (hyperthyroid) thyroid
  • Total protein test — Measures protein levels in the blood to diagnose nutrition problems
  • Urinalysis — Checks for early signs of disease and monitors diabetes or kidney disease
